Milwyn Casting to attend the show

THE presence of a dramatic sculpture in a garden can leave a lasting impression on a visitor, but just what is involved in bringing an artist's work to fruition?

The man to ask is Alex Davies, of Milwyn Casting, who has 20 years’ experience as a foundryman, blacksmith and sculptor.

He will be attending the show and be able to tell how over the years he has helped artists take their sculptures from sketchpad to exhibitions.

And Alex has worked on a number of interesting projects, including the restoration of the Green Horse at Great Windsor Park and the Bobby Moore statue outside Wembley Stadium.

Whipping up a Wordle of the Creating Landscapes show

WE have just gone through 60 articles on the Creating Landscapes website, so I thought I'd have a quick Wordle to see what we have been writing about:

Wordle-creating-landscapes

Wordle: Creating Landscapes (click the image for full size view)

Wordles are 'word clouds' that read the text of any website and extract the words to display what is being written and discussed on them in an appealing way.

Over time as you write more articles for your website the Wordle changes as it picks out different words, drop in on the site and have a play yourself.

Rochfords Nursery heading to the show

Rochfords The Rochford family has been involved in horticulture in the Lea Valley area since the mid-nineteenth century.

Joseph Rochford Gardens Ltd opened its gates in 1974 with one hectare. Since then it has grown to around 20 hectares and was taken over by Paul Rochford, the current owner, in 1976.

The Lawn Company rescues the RHS

Rhs hampton court flower show screen shot

When visitors to the world famous Hampton Court Flower Show start turning up they can expect the see the high profile lawns around the show ground looking lush and green; in fact, just as one might expect to see a British lawn looking.

However, if they'd turned up a couple of weeks ago the lawns might not have been at their best as the lawns were looking decidely yellow, so the RHS turned to The Lawn Company and The Lawn Shop in their hour of need.

Mike Seaton takes up the story:

A sweet idea from TOPSOIL as they sign up to show

TopsoilbritishsugarIt will be interesting to find out more about the work of TOPSOIL, the latest company to sign up for the Creating Landscapes Trade Show.

TOPSOIL is a subsidiary of British Sugar plc and its products are developed from the soil that adheres to the sugar beet itself and as such comes from the best agricultural soils in the country.

After separation, the soil undergoes a gravity settlement stage prior to a lengthy conditioning process and careful storage ready for delivery to landscapers.
