Andrew Fisher Tomlin to deliver talk on designing trees into the urban environment

Andrew Fisher Tomlin Andrew Fisher Tomlin, one of the UK’s most respected landscape designers will deliver a stimulating talk at Creating Landscapes on how designers deal with the challenge of designing trees into the urban environment.

Andrew, whose company has won many awards for its work around the world, will discuss from a purely horticultural perspective the challenges of climate change, biodiversity and public policy and education.

Andrew's talk is based on a series of lectures given in the USA earlier this year to institutions including the Smithsonian and the Casey Tree Foundation in Washington DC.

Power of Landscape Juice, by Etesia's Les Malin

Les malin When Etesia UK's general manager, Les Malin, heard that the products he supplied were being criticised he saw how the internet has changed business.

"It is amazing how things start, a simple email from a loyal user of the Etesia brand alerted me to adverse comments on a website I had never heard of, but which has led us on a journey of discovery, both about ourselves and more importantly a band of customers whose voice we had never heard, writes Les Malin.

How appropriate that the forum has been established by a man with the surname 'Voice'.

For years our parent company has wanted us to expand our dealer network, we had resisted as we felt the dealers we worked with were dedicated to our main customer base, namely local authorities and large contracting bodies.

PayYours mobile payment solutions sign up

Payyours Creating Landscapes was intended to be about solutions for the practitioner and it is certainly living up to that billing.

Collecting payments on time is one of the hardest tasks a small business owner faces. Late payers or delayed payment causes a great deal of stress and complications but help is at hand as PayYours have signed up to come to the show.

Landscaping and garden maintenance firms now have the same tools available to retail outlets by utilising a secure mobile payment terminal at their client's front door.

A bit about PayYours

PayYours is the new way for mobile workers to take credit and debit card payments by secure Chip and PIN. Using handheld GPRS terminals mobile traders can now take card payments whenever and wherever they are.

Marshalls Weatherpoint 365 jointing mix 'how to' video

Marshalls have produced a series of 'how to' videos to demonstrate how to use their building products.

In this video, Weatherpoint 365 resin based jointing mix is applied to a newly constructed natural flagstone patio in a fraction of the time it would have taken using traditional cement based mortars.

The unique characteristics of Weatherpoint 365 distates that the working area must be saturated in advance meaning it can be used when it is raining.

A professional user won't lose valuable time due to re-scheduling and the DIY landscaper, who may only have weekends at his disposal, can feel comfortable that he can get the job done without expensive washouts.

See the Marshalls' Youtube channel for the full series.
